Thank you for this site. My husband is a deployed soldier, and this deployment has been the toughest yet. The year he was back was difficult too, but we were able to go to counseling. I am a Christian and I try to share with him each Sunday the message from church, and send him prayers regularly. Our communication has been strained over the last 3 months, and now he’s told me that leaving me is an option. I am so upset and hurt. I am about to send him this link in hopes that he will realize that Divorce is not an answer.

I think that if a couple persues the couneling route that it’s very important to know if the counselor is committed to helping you save your marriage or if he/she is just going to tell you to make yourself happy at a given moment. Marriage help takes time and sometimes it’s not the easy way to go. Sometimes when your marriage is rocky it might seem that getting out will be less stressful and that’s very tempting. Be sure that your counselor will help you stay the course.

i guess one key to keep your marriage strong is to not stop complementing each other. Do not stop from making your spouse feeling special. Also, going out on dates like when you were still dating is cute and can be helpful.

If the commitment is gone in the relationship, probably your relationship won't work anymore. Because marriage is all about commitment, and you just made your commitment to each other more concrete when you made your vows. And I think there's still chance to save your marriage, if you're going through this kind of marriage problem. Communicate with your partner, keep that open communication, that is very important. I agree with all the tips: take control, patience, creativity, and spending times together. And to add to that, communication, communicate a lot. If there's something you think should be talked about, then talk about it. You should be open to each other, respect each others' decisions and points of view, and yes, it's all about respect too. I guess saving a marriage depends on what you're doing and what are you not doing in your relationship.
